Methods of packing

so i move in saturday and im packing tomorrow and am debating whether i should be a normal human being and put my clothes in suitcases or be efficient and just throw them all in big garbage bags to make packing/moving easier. would it look bad to walk into my room with 4 garbage bags of clothes? or am i being smart about this?

My clothes were packed in garbage bags. Once you’ve unpacked them it doesn’t matter. If you use multiple suitcases, those suitcases will likely sit there unused for the entire year. If there is move-in assistance make sure they know it’s not actual garbage.

Was it a pain having to refold once you got there?

DD in NY uses Large duffel bags that can double as laundry bags.

Not a pain to refold compared to the pain of storage of suitcases all year long.

For shirts, you can put them on hangers, tie them together, and then put a garbage bag over to cover them (you need to make a hole for the hanger to go through). Garbage bags are fine.

Having suitcases sitting in your room all year is going to be a pain. Could you just bring your clothes in suitcases, then when you get there unpack your clothes and bring the suitcases back home?

Oh yeah, if your parents are coming with you that changes everything. I would have loved to be able to send stuff back with them.

That’s true. I’ll tell them to just do that. Only downside to all this is that when time comes to move out I’d have to wait for them to get there to start packing… but on the plus side, knowing our moms, they end up doing it for us hahaha
