I got an official letter from Scholarship America with a form to need to send in so they'll issue the check. If you haven't heard anything by now, I don't think you got it. Sorry :(

Dam. D: I seriously thought i had a chance too

Hey Sambago,

I'm one of the other Bay Area people who won. =]

Congratulations! I wonder where the awards ceremony is going to be. And that prize pack sounds pretty awesome - I wonder what's in it besides the cell phone. :)

Hey, I recieved my letter saying I won the $1,000 but not a "prize pack" or cell phone . Does anyone know why?
By the way, I'm from Dallas, TX

Was your letter from Scholarship America or MetroPCS? I got a letter from MetroPCS telling me about the prize pack and cell phone and a letter from Scholarship America telling me about the actual scholarship and the official way to get it. Maybe they just haven't sent you the one from Metro yet.

My letter was from Scholarship America, I haven't heard anything from Metro PCS.

I got my letter saying I would get a phone and a prize pack!!!
I'm sooo happy, this is the first scholarship I've ever won!!!!

Haha, congrats!! Do you guys mind sharing your stats and community service?

My stats: over 300 hours community service
Presidents of 2 clubs
3.77 GPA

tons of community service (no specific hours - tons of events)
4.00 GPA

Has anyone from the Sacramento area received a letter? Soccerchick11 - you said you were a finalist from the Sacramento area - have you heard anything?

nope.. but my friend got a letter yesterday.. so i assumed i didn't get it since i didn't get anythin today either :[

Yesterday wasn't THAT long ago - maybe yours was delayed. (And mine.) Congratulations to your friend!

thanx! yaa i hope so!!
hopefully both of ours were delayed :]

No letter for me today :(
Fingers crossed for soccerchick :)

nope.. me neither :(

but thanx tocollege!! :)

and by the way.. what were your stats?! because my friend that got it had a 4.0 but had barely any community service.. which i think is dumb.. i had tonsss more than her, but her gpa was better! i don't know.. i'm really happy for her.. but at the same time i think i should have go it too! it seems like you needed perfect grades to get it..

I was thinking my "stats" were pretty good - until I started looking around on cc. Everyone here is amazing! Remember, our MetroPCS area is HUGE - it goes from below Stockton through Sacramento all the way up into the foothills. I am sure there were thousands of great applicants, and they have to make a decision somehow. We can be proud to have been selected as finalists!

yaaa i forgot how huge our area was! i forgot they included the stockton area! that's probably A LOT of apps!! and yaa i'm glad i got finalist!

Well, I think for CA people there was a prize pack b/c part of the prize pack is two unlimited ride tickets for the Santa Cruz Boardwalk (for a certain day).

But Stats:
3 significant leadership postition
500+ hours of volunteer (since 7th grade though)
3.91 uw, 4.35 w.

I'm excited to go to Santa Cruz!
