<p>Has anyone has had any experience with MetroPCS service on campus? I would like to know particularly about coverage/reception in the dorms. I will be living on campus this coming fall and want to know if I should switch my current MetroPCS service to another mobile carrier, namely Sprint. </p>

<p>I had Sprint several years ago, and it was definitely inferior to Cingular/AT&T on campus. I don’t know if the Sprint network has improved in the interim.</p>
<p>As far as I know, MetroPCS has pretty good coverage in Boston generally.</p>
<p>^at CPW, I found that I had issues getting service inside class buildings with AT&T. probably not a huge deal but thought I’d share.</p>
<p>^ I try to talk with my daughter once a week or so, but it’s difficult to talk by phone using AT&T. She usually has to exit a building to maintain the conversation. In the winter…well, you can imagine.</p>
<p>I should note that I happen to think my Verizon coverage is superior to my AT&T coverage, which was superior to my Sprint coverage. </p>
<p>But coverage within MIT academic buildings isn’t great for any service – that’s what happens when you build an entire campus out of brick and concrete. :)</p>
<p>I’ll keep that in mind if I have major issues with AT&T. it’d be interesting if there was a way to collect data on this…</p>
<p>Skype is probably the easiest way to keep in touch with family and close friends back home. Plus, it’s free. My son has used Ventrilo for several years to keep in touch with friends in other countries. He’s talking us into downloading Ventrilo so that everyone can talk together at the same time. Like a weird sort of guild…</p>
