We just came back from Puerto Vallarta and there were very few Americans/Canadians (maybe 5%). In fact, some young Mexicans staying at the Sheraton with us, asked my college sophomore if he would pose in a picture with them so they could show “an American”. Another person pointed to our family and said, “Americanos! I know because of tee-shirts”, so we were quite the novelty. We did not experience or hear of any crime. A Mexican tourist drowned in front of our hotel and an American tourist was killed in a jet ski accident at the Marriott. My sophomore came home with a major case of Montezuma’s Revenge and is headed to the doctor after Health Services couldn’t help him.
