Meyerhoff Scholars Selection Weekend

Did anyone attend the Meyerhoff Scholars Selection Weekend that I thought was scheduled this past weekend?

I attended. And it was this past weekend. But there are two weekends-- this past one was for in-state students and the one coming up this weekend is for out of state students. Were you there?

I am in-state but I am going to the one this coming weekend. Wonder why I was invited to the second one if it is for Out of State students.

My son is attending the Meyerhoff Selection Weekend on March 5 and 6, and he is in-state too. I was wondering about Neocutey24’s comment.

Almost all in-state students were last weekend but I was told that some in-state students were coming the next weekend. Is it possible that you guys are from Roosevelt in PG County or homeschooled? If you are from Roosevelt, how many are coming from your school?

Anyway, good luck this weekend!

Not Roosevelt, Not PG County, Not Home-schooled.

Doesn’t really matter. We will check it out and see what the program is about and if offered it will make a decision.

Anyone hear anything yet about Meyerhoff?

No, haven’t heard anything yet. My son and I attended one of the Scholar Visit Days today at UMBC. I asked one of the admissions staff (not Meyerhoff staff) that introduced himself to us about Meyerhoff, and he said that the packets had been mailed last Friday (or at least that’s what I think he said). He said we should receive something by the end of the week (which seemed odd to me since mail only takes one day to get to us from UMBC). And he said we should call the Meyerhoff office if we hadn’t heard anything by early next week.

The only thing that make us feel better is that no one else seems to have heard either.

Thanks so much for the info lemonge.

Well, I couldn’t wait until next week. I called the Meyerhoff office this afternoon and asked when the decisions were mailed out. They said all the packets went out between Wednesday and today.

Got my rejection letter. Was a little disappointed because it’s a really great program that gives you wonderful opportunities but I’ll be happy at College Park. UMBC really isn’t worth it-- personally, since they don’t have Bioengineering-- with the Meyerhoff. Good luck to everyone else!

I went to columbia instead >.>

I did not get Meyerhoff either, but did get Honor’s program. Will probably attend UMBC anyway because it makes more sense than CP for me in light of the lack of scholarship money offered at CP. Best financial option is Towson but haven’t made a final decision yet.

Good luck, missymouse. I really wish you the best. Towson’s campus is beautiful and very involving. I know a lot of people who went there and graduated from there and they loved it. But the Honors Program at UMBC is nothing to scoff at.
