Hey. Im looking to over prep for the math 2c. Im well aware that The Meylani books and the barrons books both do this. Ive heard so much about barrons tho but i havnt realy heard much about Rusen Meylanis books. I realy like the idea of integrating the calculator into the test as much as it does. however, i want to make sure meylanis books are decent. Has anyone ever used them? how are they? THerers another 2c book out using the Ti89 calculator. If anyone has used them, which do u recomemnd. Ti 83 or Ti 89? Thanks guys.

I personally hated Meylani because the format of his books, in my opinion, was absolutely horrible! I returned it and got Barron's - it was much, much better, albeit a lot harder, but in the end I got my 800 because of Barron's.

The format for meylani is really just horrible, get barron's or PR.

barrons (10 char)

damn...second barron's test and this time I only got to 40 questions in 60 min....didn't help that I got diarrhea halfway through the test though :(

btw ti 89 is MUCH BETTER...if you need to do anything with polynomials or summations, all it takes is a few clicks and the answer is there...plus it holds so many more digits so you can sometimes do the outrageous number calculations....it helps if you know calculus too (can't hurt can it?)

yeah but for someone that just bought a ti-89, im clueless. whats the best way to learn how to use it.

Just do alot of calculus use with it. If you can't and need help, PM me for one of my AIM screen names.

so the meylani books = no good? i took a real IIC test for practice w/o any prep and scored a 750...just looking for a book that help improve the score

Ivymaterial2: sorry for hijacking the thread...

pr + meylani practice tests = good results
The practice tests are significantly harder than the real ones but they really prepare you for those last questions becuase u'll breeze by them

with those two books i got 780 1c and 800 2c

I've never used the actual meylani book, but I have taken one of his tests. They're more difficult than the actual test only because, as he said himself, "pretend you're taking a regular practice test, except you're starting with number 5." so it basically gets rid of the easy ones at the beginning and replaces them with 5 hard ones at the end.

Barron's, on the other hand, overpreps you in every possible way. I mainly used this book and got the 800 on the IIC.

I also hated the format of Meylani's book. Just something about the structure, the layout of the book, really put me off.

I studied with PR and Meylani and Barrons. At the time, I HATED barrons but now that I think about it, Barrons prepped me well. Too well.. PR was THE BEST.

Both books will make you over qualify for 800. Starting from the Barrons book, you only need to do the pratice tests. Start earlier, do one pratice test each week. Learn how to solve the problems by reading the answers. Barrons book's answer seciton is the best. Skip that question if you cannot solve the question in one minute even after you look at the answer. After you do about four Barrons pratice tests, you will find out that you almost see every pattern of the questions. I can say at least 50% of the questions form the Barrons book are from the real tests from the past. In June 3rd test, the dormain question was identical from the Barrons book's. For Meylani book, I cannot solve 10% of the questions in one minute even after reading the asnweres so skip them. I don't like to memorize math formula. I always skipped the questions that requiring formula. It's good that I entered the sin/cos formula into my calculator a day before the test. Both sin/cos questions were shown in june 3rd test. For the Chem, I spent no more than 2 hours each week starting 3 months earlier. I finsihed reading 3 books, McGraw Hills, Kaplan, Princeton in order. In june's test, there were many (about 8) questions related to the lab that I skipped during the reading. I got both Chem and math 800s. I admitted that I over prepared but I need solid 800s.

Math2c 750 is not a good socre for top 20 schools. There were 12% got 800 in June 3rd test. There were usually 25-30% scored higher than 750 in math2c. There were 4% got 800 in June 3rd Chem.

Um I got 750 and I am going to a top 20 (actually top 10) school. I suppose it was good enough.
