Does anyone have input on whether or not I should buy a TI-89 or Meylani's book? I already have TI-83.

What is Meylani's?

But I would say definetly don't buy the 89. Its a waste of money. The difference between the 89 and the 83 is that the 89 can do a lot of stuff that normally you would have to use your head for. That and the fact that you can play Super Mario on the 89, but wouldn't it be more convienent to buy GameCube?

Meylani is the author of the book called "SAT Math with TI," which uses TI-83. any other opinions?

put the money in a savings account. if you're really worried about the SAT, borrow a Princeton Review book from the library, they are the best.

bump.......

Meylani is that Russian author right? The cover is white and red and a bit was grey?
I think I have that book. If my book is the book that you might get, DONT GET IT!! It has SO many errors!! Every 10th question has an error. I have to take that stupid book to my maths teacher so she can tell me if the answer is truly correct or not.. waste of time actually.
But if that book is not the book that is white and red and grey (i think it has a it of purple/grey in it? i cant remember), disregard my post :)

i recommend it. although it has a few (maybe 1 or 2 each test) errors, it still helps a lot because the questions are more similar the the actual test than for example barron's. i took about 8 of the 15 tests and i got an 800 on the actual. i'm sure it helped me.

it seems that almost every prep book you get, there are a few errors in every test

lol dont buy the 89, i have it and it's just a big pain to use >:o, plus, i wasn't allowed to use it on my sat ... anyway, you can manage fine with the ti, and just borrow a book from the library.

Do you own the Titanium or the standard one?

TI-89's awesome . . . but not for Math IIC. It really becomes valuable during Calc., especially Multivariable.

so don't buy the TI-89?

if you're willing to put in 1-2 hours of really learning the TI89 interface. GO FOR IT. i know the ti89's commands like the back of my hand and the features and even ease of use kills the ti83.

for example...ti89 can:
copy paste large equations from anywhere to anywhere.
solve equations, trig equations, system of equations.

if you enter like 234x+2342x^2 | x = _____
means 234x+2342x^2 WHILE x = some number
you can just enter what you want into the blank and this is a very quick way to evaluate a function for various independent values.

you will LOVE the menu and interface of the ti89 once you figure it out.

bascially if you're one of those idiots that just buy it because you hear it has a solver built it but never even bother to figure out any of the other features in the manual, then forget it.

if timing is your problem on the 2c test, then get the ti89. you still gotta know how to do math though.

i have the titanium one.i just meant if its just for math 2c..don't bother buying it. it took me a while to learn how to use it quickly and effectively.. but like someone said, i LOVE mine for calc <3<3<3<3<3 it does so much stuff.

Well, the upside would be using it for IIC, but I am taking calc this coming year and I plan on majoring in a science, so hopefully, the TI-89 will be put to good use.

Did you guys actually READ the entire manual to figure out how to do things quickly and effectively (for the iic exam)?

Though I haven't tried the 83, i think if you put in the time to get used to the 89 and learn it, i say go for it. In my experience, it helped me quite a bit on test day (800).

Buy the 89 and sell the 83. The extra 60-100 dollars is MORE than worth it. The 89's controls are intuitive and require very little learning. Just use it for a week or so for your math homework/practice tests and you'll get it. And you'll be able to do things you wouldn't have dreamed of last week.

Put the money in a Grahamian Value stock while you wait for your decision, then sell ur share(s), buy the book, and keep about 5-20% profit.

Dear Students,

I was away for a while, I hope everything is fine about everyone. For your information I am Rusen Meylani and I am not Russian (I am Turkish).

Best regards,

Rusen Meylani.
