MIAMI HPM Program

hey i was told their "goal" was by early april, but I think that the guy implied that they might not get them out until mid april

interviews are done. i think the last one was 28th, afternoon.

yea guys i just talked to some1 in the admissions office and they said that it will take " a good 25 to 30 days" from yesterday until you get a decision in the mail. So, basically, we're not getting decisions until first two weeks in april. sighs, realizing that he will be on edge for another month

Theres no way that many people get accepted. I'm in the program now and theres 14 of us in the HPME this year. Those numbers you quoted are off quite a bit!

that means they probably accepted 50, but only 14 chose to matriculate your year

could be, but that's what we were told by the dean.

I agree with coolkash, that seems to be a common misconception-- programs can't possibly Admit exactly the number of people that matriculate, many students dont apply to just their number one choice and have many other undergraduates and programs to consider... it sounds good/competitive to say we accepted 14 people and you are it when you meet with the dean and everything, still 50 acceptance out of how many that applied is still tough...coincolectr how is the curriculum at Miami HPM is it hard to keep the 3.7? please be as honest as possible -- have any students in years above you or in your year been dismissed from the program for not being able to keep the requirement/MCAT score? Thanks for the help...

what are average stats to get into UMiami med program?

there are no real average stats theres the bare min. which i believe are 1400 SAT (32 ACT), 3.75 UW GPA, SAT 2's in math, science....and really no others but i suppose ur going to need a few extra-curriculars to round out ur resume and whatnot......Anyways, anyone hear any word yet about the program or still anxiously waiting?

how hard is it to get into the UMiami med program.. in comparison to the other med programs...... avg stats needed?

Supposdly harder than peopel think. Especially cause they interview such a high number of students, and of those, only 20% get accepted (Compared to the near 50% of hpme; of those interviewed)

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ne1?

Isn't word suppose to come out mid-April; not anytime soon?

I called a few days ago, they said next week. We should't hear before April 3. O, and decisions will be released first by email, and then through post.

aight etznopieceofcake, thanks for that info....jwing do u think it will matter when u interviewed or will it be one mass email at the same time?

hey guys i just emailed the woman who emailed us about our interviews and she said the letters were mailed this morning............yeahh so now im truly freaking out b/c i live in Tampa and that means i get a letter in a few days..........AHHHHHHHHHH!

omg... I hope I get in really badly here... I've gotten rejected everywhere else... so cheers

yea man its scary to realize that my next 7 yrs are basically decided by one letter thats coming monday.....

A lot will happen in those 7 years besides college. Fingers crossed like crazy for you, Dhaling. You're gonna be fine.
