Miami OH EA 2017

OOS offered $24,000/yr. 33 ACT, 1450 SAT, 10 AP, GPA 3.98 UW/ 4.4 W, national bronze and pewter medalist in ice dance.

Daughter received hers a couple days ago of $4000 per year. In state, business major, non-binding early action. 3.65 UW, 3.75 W, senior captain and 4 year state qualifier/varsity letter athlete, orchestra, NHS, 5 AP course. Forgot to add ACT score…29 with a 32 E and 35 R.

OOS offered $17,000/yr 34 ACT, 1510 SAT, GPA 3.98, NMSF, First Chair Musician in Band and Orchestra (John Philip Sousa Band Award), many other leadership and volunteer EC’s. Not good enough, will pursue NM scholarship at either OU, Bama, or Ole MIss.

OOS offered 17K/yr, 1460 old SAT, 3.93 UW GPA, 9 AP classes, lots of leadership, ECs, and community service, various awards

The letter mentioned something about additional scholarships being reflected in the March letter. Does anyone know what those might be and or likelihood of receiving them?

In-state son received $9k per year.

Weighted GPA: 4.19. Unweighted: 3.97.
ACT: 33 (he took it twice but every score improved on second try, so SS doesn’t help him here.)
Class rank: 9/369
4 AP classes

We were elated … until I looked here at other in-state awards that are much higher, even for lower ACT scores. Wonder if his high school (pretty good public school) isn’t competitive enough? Maybe he didn’t take enough AP courses?

OOS son received $16,500 per year (Honors / Farmer)

Weighted: 4.4 / Unweighted 3.93
ACT: 33 / SS 34
9 AP’s & 5/420 class rank
EC’s + 4 yr athlete

Happy with $ but, was hoping for a bit more…Does anyone know if there is a second round of $$ sent out or is this initial offer as good as it is going to get. Would love to know - Thanks and good luck everyone.!

@robbydee I have almost the exact same stats as your son and I also got $9,000 a year. After reading this thread it seems like a lot of the in state posters who received more money than your son and me were part of this Bridges programs.
I wish when I visited they would have mentioned this because it sounds like our scholarships could’ve have been a lot higher had we been a part of it!

(This is just my understanding based on posts to this thread)

just received $19,000/yr OOS

3.7 UW, 3.9 W
32 Superscore ACT
UASP

Offered $17,000/yr OOS,

3.25 UW, 3.65 W
35 ACT
185/535 Class Rank
Eagle Scout, Varsity Captain, SGA, etc

Congrats to all who have been accepted! I’m a little surprised some people are unhappy with the scholarship money offered. My daughter had 33 ACT, 4.5 W, top 5% at competitive school, first chair symphony orchestra, lacrosse captain, many AP and honors. She is at OSU and they don’t offer even close to the money Miami University offers. I was honestly just happy to see her at a school that was well regarded, where she felt comfortable, and one that would help prepare her for a successful future. Miami offered more money but OSU was more suited to her major - both are top Ohio public universities and I was thrilled she had the opportunity to consider them.

My daughter is graduating in the spring. she had a 33 ACT, 4.3w, 4.0uw. Got full tuition plus OOS. Some of the formula is based on geography. The essay also matters even though kids blow it off.

In state, ACT - 34 composite, 36 superscore; 3.9UW, 4.3 W; varsity sport, band, several hundred hours of community service, strong essay, excellent recs; 3 AP’s, several dual enrollment classes, mostly honors classes. Accepted to UHP and UASP, offered 12,000/yr (without additional UASP $).

Hello! I was admitted but did not receive anything about financial aid. I went to myMiami and it says “No aid term data found”. Does that mean I just haven’t heard back or I didn’t receive anything? GPA: 3.3(Unweighted) ACT: 32. I go to the #1 public school in MA and am currently taking 2 AP classes and 2 Honors classes.

@collegehalo The portal hasn’t updated for anyone yet.

You have to have above a 3.5 GPA to receive the grid of scholarship awards, but I am unsure if that is weighted or unweighted. The award letter said that nothing is final until March and that there were other scholarships still to be doled out, so my suggestion is to turn-in a midyear report and hope for the best. Best of luck!

Hey if I got scholarship money and in the letter it said something about UASP (i know i was offered to be in UASP on my portal), does that mean that the money that they gave me includes the extra UASP money? I am not sure…

yes its included.

Is there anyone else who is accepted EA/ED who has qualifying stats that still waiting for merit information? I’m on the eastern side of PA and thought maybe the mail was delayed due to the holidays, but now I’m starting to worry.
My stats are:
34 ACT, 3.92uw/4.64w gpa, 9 AP’s, good EC’s with leadership (president of 3 clubs), summer programs, and most rigorous schedule from competitive high school.
I visited this fall and loved it. I was accepted through the portal and received my acceptance letter on the 24th — worried that I didn’t get any merit. Any ideas?

We are in the same boat University2021. Called MU and they said that if we don’t hear by Friday, to call back.
