Miami or OSU?

No, 20k is not too much to pay off. But, 20k a year is 80k, which is definitely not an ideal figure.

Thanks for all the comments above (including TGR1958’s response), perhaps I am also guilty as charged. Even though rather than talking down MU, my emphasis has always been to point out the fact(s) that academically, as recognized by many scholars across the country, Ohio State has made a tremendous strives as of late.

However, this improvement certainly has come at a cost to MU due to cross-admits between the two schools in the last few years. And unfortunately, this increasing selectivity difference alone has gradually altered general perception of academic reputation between the two. No doubt, selectivity alone does not tell the whole story! Many other factors are also involved which I won’t go into details here…

Although academically, TOSU is gaining momentum through the leadership of President Gee and perhaps popularity as well through Urban Meyer and former coach Tressel in the state of Ohio, truth be known, believe or not, I am also a firm believer in a single factor: ‘fit’ over all measurable academic parameters, metrics & rankings, as a MSU grad (my other alma mater) who had chosen Michigan State over attending the academic powerhouse of Michigan more than a decade ago.

OTOH, in all fairness though, please also note that for the longest time, it was the preppier, more well-off MU student bodies who were doing the denigration towards the OSU students and its academic status! Obviously, an eye for an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and I certainly do not suggest otherwise. In short, I only ask for your understanding and forgiveness if I have hurt the feelings of the Miami community either intentional or unintentionally while trying to ‘assist’ prospective students here.

for your individual case OSU for sure

In state residents in Ohio are very lucky with the number of quality schools to choose from. I am glad I moved my family back to Ohio. My S would not have been accepted at UIUC, and paying more money than Ohio schools for the other state schools in Illinois was not really enticing.
