MIAMI U -OXFORD Vs AMERICAN U ,which one to go?

Hi, if choosing between MIAMI U -OXFORD( OHIO) , and AU ( econs major) , which one to go?

Both schools have about equal reputations overall. Miami has a very good business school, so if you're looking to combine an econ degree with a business degree Miami might be a good choice for that reason. If you're looking for straight economics--or any other traditional liberal arts major--then definitely AU. Over half of Miami's student body majors in business or education.

Miami has a very quaint, picturesque campus, but that comes with a considerable downside. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. Miami's campus also has very little diversity. Princeton Review ranks it among the least diverse schools in the country. AU has much better diversity. AU is in a major metropolitan area. It depends on what you want. Does a school where virtually everyone looks, dresses and thinks alike and comes from the same socio-economic background appeal to you? It does for many though I couldn't imagine it.

I'm a 1995 AU graduate with a double major in political science and economics. I also applied to (and was accepted at) Miami U.

Given AU's location in Washington, DC, and all of the resources and opportunities that come with that location, it's a great place to study economics. I found the course work to be challenging and I think it provided a broad selection of courses.

I chose AU for several reasons: location in Washington, DC; relatively small undergraduate population (about 5,000); small class sizes; and scholarship.

I can't answer whether AU is worth $10,000 more per year--that's a pretty subjective topic. But it's a fair question to ask, and I'm not surprised that it's asked by someone with an interest in economics!
