Not going to comment on any of the larger issues, but my brother went to Miami ('08) and I almost laughed when that teacher told your daughter she was surprised with her interest since she wasn’t Jewish. That teacher must be grossly misinformed! My brother is Jewish (as am I) and his freshman year roommate told him he had never met a Jew in his entire life; moreover, my brother did very much feel a religious minority at Miami (although I doubt he cared since we couldn’t be less religious). Miami DEFINITELY isn’t a predominantly Jewish school… haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

D. will be a senior at Miami next year. Loves it, got much more out of her college experience thatn expected. Jewish life is there if seeked, but there are not that many Jewish kids as for example at Ohio State. Did you check out College Suits for upper classmen? They are awesome. Also, we liked the fact that D. did not need to take lots of General classes, so she was able to have major and 2 minors, never took any summer classes and will graduate on time, thinking that she will need filler class(es) to be full time student in last semester next year. She loves beauty of the campus and non-urban location, which will be very hard to match in Grad. School (Miami does not have Med. School, so D. will be going somewhere else). Greek life is huge at Miami, and so are club sports. My friends’ D. graduated with teaching degree and got hired into exceptionally nice school district after her very first job interview by pricipal who also graduated from Miami (we are in OH).
