Oh, also…we are OOS, NJ.
I am looking forward to seeing what Miami offers as D will be entering the decision phase after that. Miami is a top choice and appears to be a beautiful place to spend 4 years. Plus a very pleasant size. I am also thinking it a wise choice in that Oxford winter is a vast improvement over our local winter…it’s sitting at zero here with a long stretch of brrrr ahead :-<
@JMRome, I have to add that my kid couldn’t get the fancy acceptance letter out of the packet- it was very well sealed. Finally managed to pull the letter out, but the fancy part got all crumped- the presentation was totally lost on my kid! lol
@STF4717 Same!!! Lol, it was destroyed.
Last year, was merit info posted online or was it only mailed?
@STF4717 @CWAE182025 Not ours…D had to demonstrate its slickness to us…it’s the little things, lol.
@datcatti In years past, merit aid came snail mail. It will eventually show up online, but not until March or so, if I remember correctly.
According to my USPS Informed Delivery Service, my S has an envelope coming in the mail today from Miami that is marked " offer of financial assistance." Hopefully, today is the day kids will start to hear.
@gclsports Same here.
We will be sprinting to the mailbox
@gclsports How far away from campus are you? We are in Texas, so I’m wondering if S will receive his today too…
@OriginalSmother about 200mi.
Does anyone know when bridges scholarship award money will come out? I already got accepted on December 21st
@Hm0416 Bridges scholarships shoukd be included in your merit award letter that you should receive any day now. You won’t be able to tell how much is regular university merit and how much is bridges merit until you receive a more detailed financial aid package. For us, that detailed package came the beginning of February. At least that’s how it worked for my Ds who were in Bridges.
My daughter just got her merit letter - (Michigan, so not too far away).
@OriginalSmother We are within 50 miles of Miami’s campus.
(Just posted this on another MU forum) Yes, merit aid scholarships are becoming a lot more competitive. Oldest son (OOS) 2016 HS grad, 35 ACT, 4.17/4.0 GPA, 11 AP classes, sports, ECs received $33,000/year. Youngest son (OOS) 2018 HS grad, 35 ACT, 4.20/4.0 GPA, 9 AP classes, captain of football team (4 year starter) just received his letter. $22,000/year. Both were accepted into College of Engineering (mechanical).
Nothing in our box yet - we are 600 miles away
If it helps, her stats are 3.85 UW, 31 ACT (32 superscore), OOS: $17k/year
Nothing in our mailbox today but we are in NJ so not surprising. Perhaps tomorrow or Saturday she will hear? Looks like awards will be very competitive, seems that’s the story at all strong public universities this year at least based on what I’ve seen. Fingers crossed for all, and thanks for the updates!
