Miami vs. Miami!!!!

So basically I have narrowed down my college choices to University of Miami (FL) and Miami University (OH). Here are the advantages I have come up with for each school:
MIAMI FL-in a big city, more diverse, more competitive/higher ranking, seems like more fun, more involved and engaged students
MIAMI OH-closer to home, more sensible choice in terms of finances, I would probably be at the top of my class
It would cost me 40k to go to Miami FL whereas it would cost me 10k to go to OH (i am OOS). I am very fortunate to have lots of money saved up for college and all of the money not spent on college would be mine after graduation...so basically I would have a LOT of money after grad. if I attended Miami OH.
But my gut is telling me to go to UM because it is better ranked....
Also I applied into the journalism program at both schools. If I could get some insight into these programs that would be awesome.
General comments? I have no clue what to do! What do you all think would be better in the long run?

Also, I am a very hard worker and I am well aware of the fact that work ethic is the biggest factor to success, not simply the name of the institution on your degree. But at the same time I would love UM....

Just looking for some direction in my life. Please respond!

any suggestions?

We have some experience with both schools. D2 took a couple of successful courses at MiamiU (O) last summer and reluctantly applied there. She generally was not impressed with the caliber of the students and says she would most likely be miserable there. If you haven’t visited, this school is in the middle of nowhere and is very Greek oriented. D2 says the dumb kids from her prep school go there. D2 has also been accepted at UMiami (Fla) and we were there recently for a visit. It still has the Suntan U image but is now a top 40 school as Donna Shalala has been working hard to improve the ranking and academics . If you are willing to study and not get too involved in the party scene you can do well there. It is near Coconut Grove and one half hour from Miami Beach and obviously the weather is great. D1, a law student, has a boyfriend classmate, who graduated from UMiami last year. He is really bemoaning the debt, but did not find his polysci major overly difficult there.

You may, in the fall, see D2 at UMiami but definitely not at MiamiU. We wouldn’t pay full ticket though.
