MICA early notification

Anyone else apply MICA early notification? (Invited to apply by 1/11 and supposed to hear by 1/31. But then the notification date was changed to Feb.) Has anyone heard anything yet?

Notification is going out next week, don't worry :)

Oh good! I didn't hear about the notification change to February, and I was getting a little worried

Have either of you gotten a letter yet? I haven't received anything and it's been a week.... all I got was a bunch of scholarship packets, and therefore I assumed I got in... But why would they send those without letting me know if I was accepted first?

because the time difference between the scholarship stuff due and sending the acceptance is so close together that it would be just plain mean to only send you scholarship forms if you were accepted, because you'd have like a week to fill them all out

I got the scholarship forms. Most schools send them in advance of admisstion/rejection notification. I'm thinking that the rest should come soon.

Spoke to the Admissions office and there is a group of acceptance letters that should be in the mail between now and Feb 22nd, so it may be as late as the end of the month.

On the scholarships, you can send this material up to the March 14th (the due date to be at MICA), and they will have announcements by April 11 (we will see...)

It does not matter when you hear from them on the acceptance, the scholarship(s) due date is the same.
S. Dad

I can confirm S Dad's message - our son just heard from MICA in today's mail - He's IN!! Still waiting to hear from RISD, CMU and Pratt, but he loved MICA, so we're thrilled. Good luck everyone!

Whoa, I'm confused. I thought S Dad's daughter was already accepted at MICA. Ditto Caressemh. That's what's listed on 'accepted stduents' thread.

My portfolio was accepted from Portfolio Day, but still waiting to hear about the official acceptance.

I've also heard that the letters are going out in batches. Freaking out.

My son received his acceptance package today, also. We live about an hour away in MD, so if you live farther away it'll probably take longer to get your mail. Congrats on all the acceptances, and good luck to those waiting!

I haven't received an acceptance letter, only scholarship forms but also my portfolio was already approved at a NPD. I assumed I was in because the scholarship forms said something about them arriving before the acceptance letter on occasion; I don't know. But I know that they certainly can't turn me down for my grades, scores or EC's.

The "official" MICA acceptance package (which arrived yesterday) has all the information you need to apply for meal service, dorm space, medical records, etc... and to formally commit to attend. This along with the acceptance letter. None of this is required to be sent in until May 1st.

It will cost $1000 to commit to MICA ($450 tuition deposit and $550 housing deposit which includes $250 housing damage deposit which will eventually be refundable.) So it takes a bit of up front money to commit. The deposits of $450(tuition) and $300 (housing) are non-refundable after May 1st.

Many schools like RISD did not send all these forms with the initial acceptance letter. RISD and several others will send the material several weeks (or months depending on the acceptance date) later. RISD's letter indicated mid-March for the forms.

Many (most?) of the scholarship/financial awards will go out mid-April, so that students can decide on their school before May 1st.

Good luck to all.

My twin D's just received their MICA acceptance package today!

I'm in!!!!!

My twin and I both got in!!!!
I'm so excited. now I need to visit and decide if I like Baltimore.

I got my acceptance package too! The handwritten note was really nice; I find that MICA is way more personable than many of the other schools. It's weird how some schools send you a whole package and others don't? SAIC just sent me a little piece of paper acceptance letter.

yeah, SAIC didn't send too much acceptance info. however, it only took 2 weeks for me to hear back from SAIC. MICA kept on changes their dates. the SAIC app was also really easy to do online. MICA, on the other hand, almost lost my portfolio because they have so much paperwork.

Yes SAIC was a speedy reply. Pratt, on the other hand....
