MICA vs RISD

I'm currently looking at colleges seeing as how i'm gonna be a junior in august. I really love to draw and i would love to go into computer animation. MICA and RISD are my top two choices but i'm really stuck. I would love to go to Ringling but my parents want me to stay in or around Maryland or somewhere near the northern east coast. RISD is more well known but i think it focuses more on designing and illustrating and i've heard that it's animation program isn't too great while MICA is more known for it's fine arts and i think it has a better animation program. Which one has a better animation program that will help me succeed in the animation world? Pros and Cons of both colleges? Names of other art schools? I'm not really sure how to narrow it down and any form of feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m leaning more towards RISD though

Or MICA
ughh, i don’t know

How much aid/scholarship did you get in each? I’d transfer to Ringling if I were you, your parents can’t force you.

Taxguy put up a good list of ranked animation programs. Think SVA, Pratt, RIT also all on East Coast and all with good programs. In addition Carnegie Mellon has has a hell of a program.

@puddingmilk, i haven’t been accepted yet…i haven’t even applied. i’m currently a sophomore, i’m just looking into colleges
@ethomasnj thanks, i’ll look into carnegie mellon since it’s in pa and all, i’d like to relatively stay in the northern east coast
