hey guys im a junior now at u-m. i remember going on here when i was in high school so if you have any questions i can hopefully answer them for you... basically this place is awesome and if you are coming you should be excited. make sure you buy your football tickets.

I'm looking forward to the football more than anything else.

Hey, I know I've asked this question so many times, but I haven't really received any good answers.

Do you know any thing about the Summer Program, for admitted students? I've heard that students are recommended to it when they are accepted to help them prepare for college.

theres the bridge program, which you have to do if they tell you to do in order to come here in the fall..

are you talking about CSP?

What is your major?

What can you tell me in general about engineering over there?

i am a double english/history. as far as i know engineering is difficult, but if thats what you are into, you will get a lot out of it, and a lot of opportunities. they have companies there all the time recruiting students. its all on north campus as you probably know, so you'll either be living up there in bursley or baits or have to take the bus. i lived on north campus freshman year, in bursley, and dont really have any complaints.. i made a lot of friends there so that made it better, and the bus was a pain sometimes, but get through it 1 year, make friends, and get a house down on central campus the rest of the time.

Bridge is one summer program, but not every freshman who is admitted for summer is in bridge.

I must be talking about CSP. Hoedown, what's the criteria for students admitted to CSP ?

how do you buy tickets for football? is it hard to get season tickets?

Hey, I have a question.

What are some things I would definitely want to bring to UMich? I heard a bike is useful...is it?
What are things that I would regret bringing?

Where are the best dorms to party? Best dorms to have a quiet studying environment?

No, CSP is something different (although there may be considerable overlap between students admitted for Summer (Bridge and non-Bridge) and those who are in CSP. I don't know what the criteria are--it's open to anyone who wants to take part in it, actually.

There may be some things that may trigger an invitation, but I don't know what they are. My best guess would be something about the high school curriculum, maybe a concern that the leap to college work is going to be a bigger adjustment for some students.

you should get an application in the mail for football tickets. all students are offered tickets so they are not hard to get. they are also a lot cheaper than they are for regular tickets. i believe they are like 22.50/game, so about $130 for the entire season. if you know anyone you'd like to sit with, you can also make a seating group and you will be put next to them. students are arranged by number of credits. so freshman are near the top in the endzone, while seniors and grad students are near the field around the 10 yard line.. also, a lot of people use bikes, but i never did. most of the year the ground will be covered in snow. for partying? bursley is pretty fun and markley, west quad, and south quad probably on central campus. quietest would be the all girl ones like stockwell, maybe east quad. they all have study rooms in them, and there are about 14 libraries on campus to study at, so thats not a problem. i cant think of anything not to bring..? whatever you think you will use. its nice to have a printer in your room, but be prepared for everyone to use it once they find out you have one.

There's no point in getting too attached to any one dorm - because unless you're in a learning community, honors or residential college, you really don't have a choice. If you specify all-female, you will end up in a pretty good location -- there are 3 small all-female dorms on central campus and one on the hill. The huge dorms for freshmen are markley and bursley. There are also a lot of freshmen in Baits now. Baits is mostly suites - two doubles with a bathroom in-between.
