Essays & Recs: descent

So again, thanks very much for helping this soul out!

reach maybe?

Reach, reallly?

What would be the reason?

Is it low SAT scores, mediocre GPA, late apply date, or out-of-state stutus?

But I really appreciate your generosity to chance me, blackpen! :D

all of the above combined… actually But you have a chance. Don’t worry about it. Write really good essays and who knows?

as for me. I think you’re a reach especially because of your SAT score. Not to sure about GPA (/100)

Thanks, j89

Hmm, is late-December a bit late to apply?

Or would there by lots of spaces still available for applicants?

yes, late december is a bit late to apply (not over the deadline late, but much later than would be to your best benefit). i’m guessing defer>waitlist, your SAT is very low for OOS students, your GPA and rank are strong but not stellar, and you are OOS. good luck though, write incredible essays and you might be in.

ps…hope your recs don’t lead on you on too great of a “descent” ;)

Thx, vc08

I shall try my best!! :)

And hope it is “BIT” late, not “TOO” late. lol

And um.. if I get deferred or waitlisted,

When would I be able to know whether they would offer me a seat or not?

It is because I’m planning to retake my SAT on January, and though it won’t be counted for regular decision, I’ll submit it anyway if I get deferred.

Hopefully it would increase my chances of getting in after deferred.

Any more chances & suggestions & tips ? :)

Get that SAT up and write good essays and i think you have a shot dude. It woulds been nice if you applied earlier, but theres no use even considering that now since its over. Just start really workin on essays and study for the SAT. If you have to take more time to get those essays top notch, do it.

The Mid 50% SAT range for admitted students is 1920-2180, so your SAT is on the lower side. You have good grades, but again, given your AP results and class rank, I’d say your grades are good but not stellar.

As such, I would say Michigan is a reach.

Hmm, okay.

Thank you Czar and Alexandre, but hope it’s not too far reach.

It is not “too far a reach”, just a plain reach.

if you can get that SAT up into the upper 1900s, you should have a much improved shot. good luck!

I totally agree with vc08…but with a 2000 you’d be set

Thanks again :)
