Michigan Financial Aid

I was wondering how 'good' my financial aid package is at University of Michigan (LSA). From my understanding, after counting work study + gov't grants, michigan grants, and provost awards, I have to borrow 5.5k in Perkins and subsidized direct loans. I am an out-of-state student, so I did expect higher costs but I'm not sure if this is too much for undergrad. My family is also low income, if that affects the rating. Also, what is a provost award?

I would say that’s really good for OOS if you mean $5.5k total loans. It looks like that award is a grant for, as you put it, low income OOS. Should be up to 5 years if your income doesn’t change. Nice to see they’re trying to make it affordable for ya.

Yes, I meant 5.5k in total loans for the entire year. I’m just curious why University of Michigan estimates work study to be 3k when Binghamton estimates it to be 1.5k for an entire year.
