michigan health scholars science program

does anyone know any information about this michigan learning community? like what housing is like, if the program is worth enrolling into, etc. just any facts about it would be great!! thanks!!

I'm currently in HSSP. The housing is based in Alice Lloyd Hall, which is directly across the street from the Hospital and is about a 5-10 minute walk to classes on central campus. I'd definitely recommend the program if you're pre-health. I've met some really cool people so far and it really is a close-knit community. Basically, you attend a lecture once a week and also a discussion section covering various, modern health-related issues. Each lecture features a new health professional who relates his/her experiences, etc. You also get two chances to shadow a doctor/nurse/dentist, etc within the UofM Healthcare system. If you're unsure (like I was) whether or not to join the program, by all means do! The experience is really great and the people are all cool for the most part, heh. Send me a PM if you want more info.

cool, i just hope i can get into the program...my stats are 1390 sat, sat ii bio 770, math ic 700, writing 650, 41/363 rank, about 3.8 uw gpa, lots of leadership positions such as treasurer of class, captain of soccer team, etc. do you think i have a chance? also, if you don't mind, i have a list of some questions...please answer as many as possible, thanks.

-approximately how many people are in this learning community?
-i hate to classify people, but do you have a feeling that most, if not, everyone in this learning community cares only about academics? my education is definitely my top priority, but i don't have a problem having fun once in a while too.
-this is more of a general question...i'm thinking about also attending tufts university, because of one major difference: the size of the campus. now i know that if i enroll in a learning community, you'll be around a smaller group of people, with the same basic interests, so the university will seem "smaller". do you think that if i don't enroll in a learning community, i'll be overwhelmed with the size of the campus?
-i don't know if you know the answer to this, but do you know if a lot of people from this learning community actually go onto to enrolling into med/dental schools?

thanks so much for your input in my original question. and thanks for taking time to read this thread too.
