Michigan law school

So I'm currently a junior at Michigan, but will end up graduating in 5 years because of credits that didn't transfer and a language requirement I had to start working towards this year.

I'm going to take the LSAT next year, but I've started taking practice tests. My question is, how difficult is it to get into Michigan law school? Is it easier to get in as an undergrad student here? Also, is it even possible for me to get in with my GPA which is currently a 3.45? All of the practice test I've taken have projected me to be somewhere in the mid 160s for the LSAT.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

It may be slightly easier to get into Michigan Law school if you are an undergrad at Michigan, but the advantage is negligible. Can you get into Michigan Law? Yes, but your GPA is on the low side. To have a good chance, you really need to finish strong and get as high an LSAT score as possible.

I don't know about it being easier for ugrads to get into Michigan law. I know someone who was specifically rejected from Michigan B-School (which is admittedly an entirely different ball game) because he went to undergrad there.

Wandergirl, I doubt that person was turned down because of having attended Michigan as an undergrad. In fact, I know for a fact that wasn't the reason. As in the case of the Law and Medical schools, the MBA program at Michigan accepts more students who completed their undergraduate studies at Michigan than at any other university by a large margin.

Michigan does not publish undergraduate institutions attended for MBA students, but it does for Law and Medical school students:

107 (25%) of Michigan students who applied to Michigan law got in compared to Michigan Law's acceptance rate of 18%. Their average GPA and LSAT were right about Michigan's mean. 65 ended up enrolling. No other university came close.

Over 50 Michigan students got into Michigan medical last year. Harvard had the second largest contingent with fewer than 10. Again, clearly Michigan does not discriminate against its students. It is the same with Michigan studfents applying to the MBA and MEng programs.

If you get 170+ on the LSAT, you have a chance.
