General discussion for the statewide ACT test on March 3rd
I hope it’s easy.
Wisconsin has it tomorrow too.
Mississippi has it tomorrow as well for juniors and many of our private schools have it March 17. Louisiana has it March 17. Would you mind posting the form number that you take tomorrow? I don’t want to know anything about the test. I just want to know the form number.
I had 71D and overall I thought each of the tests were a bit more difficult than normal
Yea. I thought all the section were difficult. Especially reading for me. Math was easy until the last 5 questions.
I’m just hoping there’s a generous curve on the science portion
Illinois had it too. I feel like the Reading portion was harder than the practice act that I took. And math was a disaster (last 10 problems). But other than that, it was ok. Could have been better, could have been worse.
So hard.
I thought English was worse than normal and I usually consider that to be my strongest section.
Math wasn’t bad until the last 10 or so. I’d say math was easier than usual.
Reading’s a toss up but in general I found that and science to be slightly harder than usual.
Overall I think it was a more difficult form and I am hoping for a generous curve. What did you guys think and what’s your prediction for the curves?
also, does anyone know if scores are posted online starting in nine days (similar to national test dates) or does it take longer?
For the reading section, for 21-40 did you guys get a lot of B’s.
I thought that English was a bit harder than usual because I wasn’t sure about the answer on a few questions. The reading was hard because I found the first passage to be confusing. Math seemed easier than usual except for a few questions. The science had some difficult questions, but there wasn’t a formal conflicting viewpoints passage like there has been on all the old tests I’ve seen where they give you info about a topic and then give you a few paragraphs explaining different hypotheses that scientists/students have. Which was good because that section usually takes the longest because you need to read all the content. But I hope the curve isn’t harsh because of it
Piggybacking from Wisconsin
Somehow I considered the English section to be easy even though that isn’t my strongest subject.
Math was easy up until the last five questions, but it still wasn’t too bad. But then again, I haven’t taken algebra 2/trig since freshman year…
Reading was easier than the official practice test yesterday, but it’s generally my weakest subject so I’m not too sure.
Science was about as difficult as the practice test as well.
Overall the test (form 71D) was a bit easier than the 1267C practice form I took last night. Judging by everyone else saying it was difficult I’m still hoping for a generous curve as always.
How was the writing section by the way? Did anyone else take it?
The ACT Facebook page has said that scores will be in a little less than three weeks, a bit longer than usual
I felt like the first few passages on science were easier than the practice tests. Math was okay up til the last few problems. English… omg that’s usually my strong one but there were a lot of toughies. Writing was pretty tough for me too (I got the question about if sports are too prominant in society) because I really just don’t know what i think about that. I only took it because they made us, so i don’t care if i did too poorly on that since the colleges i’m applying to don’t make you include that score. idk what i thought about reading. But i was also 71D
@rjp456 That may be because each state most likely has to administer a make-up exam about two weeks later (Wisconsin’s is on March 17) and the ACT has to wait to receive all test booklets before beginning to grade them.
Is there any chance the english curve would be a bit more generous than usual (72-73 is a 35 as opposed to 74 right) or is it generally pretty uniform for english?
for me:
english was medium-hard
math was harder than usual
reading was easy-medium
science was easy-medium
really unconfident about Math. I expect a generous curve on that section. English had surprisingly tricky ones but overall was alright…
I thought English was pretty easy; Math was ok up until the last 10 problems; reading was ok except for the social sciences passage; and science was ok except for the last 2 passages.
