did everyone see on the website that u of m is not recalculating gpa anymore for applicants. They are only using your cummulative--is this old news to everyone?

May I have a link please?

As my location states, I live in Ann Arbor, and many of my friends and family have close ties to the University, yet I have not heard of this new policy.

Yeah there have been a couple of threads on this a about a week or two ago.

[Office of Undergraduate Admissions: GPA Recalculation FAQs](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/gpa/)

Lol I made a nice thread about this like 3 weeks ago…it shoulda been stickied :(

while we are discussing old news, may we bring this up too?

lol, nice bearcat

^ I like how the paper pronounces him dead by giving the years, but he is not dead yet because it says “Will not make it through the night, doctors declare.”

Imagine if they were just waiting for him to bleed out rather than slip out of his coma. Could you imagine reading your own obituary? Shivers

The Daily had an article about it today: ['U'; to no longer recalculate GPA in admissions process | The Michigan Daily]('U' to no longer recalculate GPA in admissions process)

don’t even get me started: she didn’t know why they recalculated in the first place and laughed?

and the difference between their recalculation and reality was .o8? give me a break…when a B+ became the same as a B- with the old system and with AP’s not really counting??? how can they say it makes no difference?

I personally know at least 10 OOS kids where UMich was their first choice; with tons of AP’s and honors who were not admitted over the last 5 years because they had B+, A- GPA’s that Mich recalculated…they were all way over 4.0 weighted…and in the top 10% of their classes…and extremely high SAT/ACT (one last year had a 2300 in one sitting and was not accepted)…

done with my rant of the day…carryon

^ You’re judged within the context of your school anyways, so having a 4.4 weighted GPA won’t help you if your school is really easy and lot’s of people have high GPA’s. Someone who goes to a much more difficult school that doesn’t weight GPA’s and has a 3.9 could very possibly have a better chance of admission than the 4.4.
