Out of curiosity, how many people apply to both Michigan and Ohio State? Does anyone not apply to Ohio State solely because of the rivalry? I didn't apply to Ohio State, but it wasn't because of the rivalry. Interesting...

I did, I was born in Ohio but now I live in Michigan so

I’m sure very few Michigan-instaters would apply to OSU. That’s a downgrade. Might as well apply to Michigan State instead if you want the same quality of education. Financially it’s ridiculous.

I’m from Ohio so I applied to both

From Texas with family in Michigan I applied to both. Michigan for the education and OSU for the scholarships.

From MA. Applied to both because they each have great Poli Sci programs. I will be a fan of whichever I get into. .

A lot of people from Ohio probably apply to both schools because I know Ohio is one of the most represented states at UMich. But I have never heard of anyone from Michigan applying to OSU.

I have a friend in my cohort at Michigan who went to OSU for undergrad despite being born and raised in Ann Arbor (dad works at U of M, too). I believe it’s because OSU had an undergrad public health program whereas Michigan doesn’t.

I did have a handful of friends/acquaintances in high school who applied to OSU. Again, never asked why, but only one ended up going.

[Quick facts](<a href=“Quick facts - The Ohio State University”>Quick facts - The Ohio State University)

Seems that at least 500+ go there lol

^^^While I have no doubt that there are over 500 students from Michigan enrolled at tOSU, I wonder how many of those are undergraduates? I realize that most of the statistics in those “facts” are related to undergrads, however the numbers presented for OOS students does not clearly indicate that fact.

^ Hm. Good point.

There are even less freshmen from Michigan as only 1,168 came from out-of-state.

from MA obviously, but i applied to both because I want a big school.
