Michigan Research Community

I am very interested in the UROP program that Umich has. I want to start doing research as a freshman. I will be in the College of Engineering. Is there anyone that knows or is a part of the Michigan Research Community? It is one of "Michigan's Living Learning Communities" (MLC). This isn't the same as a Residential College, right? Does everyone that wants to be part of MRC get the opportunity to do so? Would being in the MRC give me priority when pursuing research stuff? It was located East Quad while Mosher-Jordan was being renovated, but since MJ will be finished this fall, will it be moved back? Would MRC guarantee that I could live in Mosher-Jordan as a freshman?

Thanks!
Ben

No one? (dumb 10 char limit)

UROP is now the Michigan Research Community and, yes, it is one of the MLCs. When you apply for housing, you'll be given the opportunity to indicate your interest in MRC -- and, no, not everyone is accepted. MRC will move back to MoJo this year and it's probably going to be more competitive than usual as a result.

How are people chosen? Is it just based on the same things that the university acceptance is?

bump please
