You, my CC friends, have helped this once ignorant mom get through this jungle of college admissions with some degree of sanity. I have one close to last question for you. At my D's senior/faculty luncheon yesterday she was given a certificate that says "Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship". We live in Michigan. She was the only senior to get one. She never "applied" for this...she will be attending college out of state (Yale). Can someone tell me if this means she won? Does she actually get some money? If so, how much? Is it renewable? I went to the MI.gov scholarship website and the link to this scholarship goes to a blank page.

quiltguru, I have no idea either but there is a long thread on this in Financial Aid and Scholarship. Congrats to your D on this, whatever it is! LOL!

Quiltguru, see my posting on the other thread. It looks like the school nominates students, the state selects, and they receive a $1500 per year renewable scholarship. Yay!

Yes, this is a really nice little scholarship where they apply $750 towards each semester, regardless of where the student attends, and it is renewable each year. We are currently waiting for the paperwork to renew for next year; I was told it should come some time over the summer. Congrats to your D!

Woohoo! The only merit award my D got! EVERY little bit counts!

A nice scholarship for sure. We're hoping our D gets one as her B did and it really helps.

My d. got one, and it wiped out any potential loan indebtedness.

Congrats, quiltguru! The only merit my S won, as well. And it helps!
