So…WOW!!! They must have “heard” us talking about it this morning, becuase moments ago my daughter got an email telling her that her status had changed and that she should check her portal. BUSINESS ADMITTED!!!
This was the last one that she was waiting for. I’m so proud of this kid…she has so many outstanding options.
Nice! My son received the same email this morning. He went to the portal and checked and the only thing it says is “Business Admitted” under “Major Preference”. I believe this is new but not sure…if I had to guess it used to say something like “Business Preference” before? I was expecting a more formal letter or notice but I suppose this means that he was accepted as a direct admit to Broad.
You’re correct. My daughter’s portal went from Business Preference to Business Admitted. According to Broad’s website, that is the change indicating that they have been given direct entry into Broad. Frankly, I would have liked to see a bit more fanfare too. Maybe there will be more communication coming from Broad at some point.
I’m wondering how widespread it is that some kids got accepted into Broad over the past few days. We’ve heard nothing from them so far (congrats to those who have!). Did many kids get notified this past weekend? Or, still waiting like us?
I don’t think that there is any way to get a true feel for this information. I read that they ultimately want their direct entry class to be around 700, so clearly they have to extend inviations to some number greater than that to achieve their desired yield. What that number is and when they extend those invitations (February vs. April) is likely only known by Broad.
Good point. I decided to email admissions at Broad and ask. They emailed me back and confirmed: incoming freshman students admitted directly into Broad in the February wave were notified this weekend. If students didn’t hear this weekend, they will hear in mid-April. That’s a bit of a bummer for us, as another school my son’ is considering is requiring a commitment by April 1 in order to guarantee housing. ugh!
My son as well! But honestly, it was so late coming he’s mentally moved on and has already emotionally committed to one of the schools where he got direct admission months ago.
