Michigan State Fall 2017 Transfer

If you were admitted for the fall you must already be a sophomore! If you’re still working on taking classes that will get you to the 28 credit and up mark, they ask for further grades until you get to that point. That are you just had a 4.0 in the fall lol. I would still send in your second semester grades since they’ll use the transcripts for transfer credit evaluation. I’m not sure what you mean by asking if they’ll look strongly at second semester grades since you’re already admitted, they won’t really matter if you’re already admitted unless you failed everything, in which case they may take back their offer of admission.

Hi CCmsu20, I got admitted into MSU as a transfer student for the fall semester. Due to health issues, however, I missed a lot of class, and although I’m not failing any classes, my grades are not to high. Is MSU going to take away my acceptance letter?

Unless any of your classes will end with a Grade Point of under a 2.0 (2.0 usually = C), your admission will not be taken away. They usually only do that in extreme cases where a student flunks out all of their last term at their current institution. If you gave me exact grades I could give you a definite answer.

@123redbuyer Hey! I had another question for you. Is it currently your freshman or sophomore year? I’m curious to see if they made a decision solely based off of your fall semester grades or if you are a sophomore with 3 semesters in the books currently.

Hello! Im currently a college freshman! My grades are not up to par either so I’m a little worried.

@123redbuyer Wow! I’m surprised. How many credits do you have and what’s your GPA? Most people finishing up their spring semester of freshman year are getting put on hold, most don’t receive acceptance off of just fall grades.

Oh really? I didn’t know that LOL. I took 16 credits first semester and 16 second, but I’m pretty sure one of my classes do not transfer. I have a 3.5 as of now.

@123redbuyer But they accepted you based on the grades of those 16 credits?

Yes. My first semester grades are the only grades I sent into Michigan State. Is the not a common case?

@123redbuyer NO. Most transfer applicants would be so so so jealous. Everyone I have talked to have been put on hold and told to submit spring semester grade when they are available.

Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you “that you have been offered admission to Michigan State University. Your admission is contingent upon the successful completion of all remaining course work listed in your application to Michigan State University. Official transcripts from any U.S. domestic institution must be submitted immediately. An additional transcript for any current or anticipated coursework must be provided after the grades are posted.” Yaaaay

@mcngalle What was your gpa, how many credit and what school do you go to right now? CONGRATS FAM

Ok just thought I would bump this post a little with my own update to maybe get people talking again since most people have reported spring grades. I’ve been accepted based on the contingency of me passing my Composition 2 (WRA 101) course this semester.

GPA: 3.15
Credits: 14 (14 more planned this summer)
Transferring from OCC
Major: No Preference (Will change at Orientation)

Hope to hear from some of you guys!

Hi @CCmsu20. When you say “passing your Composition 2 course this semester,” do you mean the current summer semester? If so, when does your Composition 2 class end (what date)? Thanks!

@winter507 Yes, the current summer semester. It ends June 25th and they allow you to report grades into late July so if that’s your concern as well, you’ll be just fine.

@CCmsu20 Thanks for the response! The 3.15 GPA you mentioned, is that your cumulative GPA? Or was that your GPA for just the past spring semester? Last question, are you able to register for an orientation date given your situation? Or do you have to wait until you submit your writing grade before you can sign up for orientation?

I got the response “Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you that you have been offered admission to Michigan State University. Your admission is contingent upon the successful completion of all remaining course work listed in your application to Michigan State University. Official transcripts from any U.S. domestic institution must be submitted immediately. An additional transcript for any current or anticipated coursework must be provided after the grades are posted.” back in February for admission in Fall 2017. My final transcripts from this past spring semester were received last week by MSU. Does anyone know how long it takes for the school to review the new transcript and give me a completed decision? Also, my major is Computer Engineering so does this decision apply to the College of Engineering as well or is that a separate thing?

@winter507 You have to wait until you’re admitted. You actually can’t sign up for orientation until you have your msu.net account. And yes the 3.15 is both of those you mentioned. I’ve only gone for spring semester, so that’s my only gpa. Taking a full 14 credit load this summer to compensate for taking the fall off.

@mmeijer123 Your application should’ve applied to the college of engineering as well. And that first letter you got was your official acceptance letter. As long as they gave you your Msu Id and your account you are in. However, if you performed terribly last semester they can rescind your admission. Your transcripts being sent in is necessary, but not important. The decision they made was based off the grades you put in the online application. You also need to put spring semester grades into the online application as well if you have not done so already. They mostly look at your online app so they don’t have to go searching for your transcript, they only check the transcript once to make sure you weren’t lying about the grades you typed in.

hey, i finished with 2 C+, 1 A+ and a D+ this semester and i had got admitted pending this last semester. do you think they’ll take the decision away?
