I got accepted to Michigan state but I rarely hear anything about their Greek like or social scene. I don’t want to have a boring college experience. Any insight on this school?
I’m a current freshman at MSU, and it’s definitely NOT a boring college experience. There’s a very active Greek life, but there’s also stuff to do if you don’t join a frat/sorority. Weekends definitely revolve around the football and basketball schedule. Something I heard before coming to MSU, which I’ve experienced is true, is that people have a “work hard, play hard” mentality. During the week, people go to tutoring and class and focus on school. But on the weekends, most go to parties or hang out. It’s a campus of ~40,000 students, there’s always stuff to do.
I would definitely agree with @gakb11. Part of Michigan State’s appeal to so many people is that is arguably provides the best " College experience" out of any school in the nation. The work hard- play hard mentality is definitively true, and if you want an active social scene you can have it, if you want to live quietly and chill- you can. With so many people, and interests, there is something for everyone. Michigan State is the last thing from boring.
