Actually, I got into the Honors College of MSU but not at UMN. I know that CBS is very competitive but I did think that I had a good chance. My sat score is around 2150. Which university would you have chosen and why? I would have preferred living in the city than in a suburb but I know that this is not a factor in the decision-making process.

Actually, your preference for living in the city should be a factor in the decision-making process because it’s a major factor in quality of life.

The schools are practically equals. I would go with the less expensive offer. If everything is equal then city vs smaller city college town might be the major factor. Honors college is great but unless if comes with a better Financial Package, UMN is just as solid.

Michigan State University

Be prepared to hear two of the ugliest accents in the world. The weather sucks at both schools. Minneapolis is a much better city than East Lansing. Did you apply anywhere else? Why didn’t you apply to Michigan? You seem very qualified for much better schools based off your SAT scores.

UMich would not have offered much in terms of financial aid. This is really a tough decision.

Well like the others said, where you live and how much financial aid you get is a big factor.

But honestly, I go to the University of Minnesota and I luvvv it!
The campus is gorgeous, its in the city, but secluded enough that you only see the skyscrapers and stuff far away.
There is soo much school spirit and a lot of student activities.
It really is wonderful.

The ugliest accents in the world? LOL. Aren’t those the same accents that the entire country tries to emulate on tv on national news broadcasts?

what? you don’t have any idea what you’re talking about if you think people in MI have an accent (unless it really strikes a nerve when people say “pop” instead of soda I suppose) and the MN accent isn’t very noticeable either. And he obviously doesn’t mind cold weather if he applied to these northern schools.
