So I applied back 12/28/2016 for the Fall 2017 as a business preference major. On 01/26/17 They told me that even though I would do well at msu they wanted to see my grades for the current winter 2017 term. I ended with a 3.88 term gpa from wcc and on 05/10/17 they sent me this. The Office of Admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application for fall 2017. The next phase of the review process requires for your credentials to be evaluated against the standards established by the Eli Broad College of Business.
In the Admissions letter They said that I was admissible to the college, but The college of business still has to look at my application.
I called them and someone from admissions about a week and a half ago and said I was accepted into the school, but not the business school
I called them again today, and the lady on the phone was giving me attitude and said my application is still under review and I’d just have to wait till the final decision came out.
I’m just super anxious to know If I got in or not I thought I did, but what do you guys think?
I believe admission decisions were just released to current MSU students applying for the business school last Friday. I would think transfer students have 2nd priority in this process. Just sit tight. You should hear very soon.
@CCmsu20 Thank you! appreciate that information
@marshad12 No problem! One of my friends was just accepted (Currently attends MSU) and all of the decisions for Broad were sent out that Friday, so transfers are most definitely next in line.
@CCmsu20 Hey, I had gotten the same message about my application being under review for the business college.
And does anyone know if I have more than 52 transferrable credits (ap credits + the credits I took at a different college combined) do i have to be business admitted to be fully accepted. My application reply say that I am admissible to the college but still needs to go through business college to render a final decision. Does my ap credits get counted toward the transferrable credits?
I’m worried that if I don’t get in as business admitted I won’t be able to attend because I have too much transferrable credits and on the transfer website it says that Per MSU policy, students with 56 or more transferable credits who do not meet the requirements for Business Admitted cannot be admitted to MSU as Business Preference. Any ideas?
@Jennyh15 If your decision says you’re admissible to the college it means you’ve been accepted, they’ll most likely just ask you to change your major if you aren’t accepted. From there, I’m pretty sure you can just take a semester of courses at MSU as “No preference” or something else and then declare or change major after a semester. As for AP credits, I do not believe they are counted a transferrable credits and definitely aren’t calculated in your GPA, but they will still count as credits if that makes any sense.
@CCmsu20 just got accepted as a business-prefrence today! @Jennyh15 I called and you can apply as an economics major and reapply to the business school. good luck to you, hope you get in!
