Does anyone know much about the political science program at Penn State?

I know that MSU has a very good program for political science students (James Madison College--an amazing program). I've done a lot of research on MSU and I know their political science program is ranked in the Top 50. I didn't do much research on PSU yet only because I honestly didn't think I would get into main campus for fall. All I know is that PSU is known for it's business program which is what I originally applied for, but I switched to political science in hopes of attending Law school one day.

So if anyone knows anything, I would love some input! Any info will help! :)

Thanks

Well Penn State just opened its new law school building on UP and according the Univ president, it is moving up very quickly in the law school rankings. I can imagine that the poli sci program at UP would only benefit from it.

I looked at MSU when I was applying at it has decent AgSci programs there as well. It was $$ that did it for me, MSU is just too expensive OOS and I would rather grad with no debt rather than 20-30 grand.

That is my question too! Except instead of political science, I was wandering about pre-med, and I'm out of state for both of them.

Thanks cwryan, I didn't know PSU even had a Law school, this is such a hard decision!

Nerner, MSU has a great pre-med school called Lymann Briggs. You should look into it!

I know, but I'm not sure if it's better than PSU's pre-med program. They both have medical schools but I'm not sure which one would be better.

Not that this adds anything to this topic, but considering its labeled Penn State vs. Michigan State, I would like to say a big congrats to the men's basketball team for a big win in East Lansing today. They couldn't make a free throw down the stretch and it was very frustrating, but they held on enough to beat the number 9 team in the country.

Yea that was amazing. No riot though downtown, not a big surprise, basketball isn't anywhere near FB status in UP. The result of steelers winning tonight however, that will most likely be different.

Tilohnine I didn't think lyman briggs was part of MSU pre-med program.

Most of the kids who choose to do pre-med are in Lyman Briggs. They usually pair it with biology/chemistry or something along those lines. You can also choose to do pre-med through the College of Natural Science, but you would benefit more in LBC. LBC offers the benefits of a small college with the resources of a great research university. Also, there are only about 1500 students in the program, so the class sizes would be much smaller which is always a plus...

I don't know much about LBC but I'm sure the website is loaded with info.
