Michigan Transfer Chances

Hi all,

I am currently freshman attending umass dartmouth, however I attended high school in michigan and I'm a michigan resident.

I didn't do well in high school (gpa~2.4) and thus I didn't get into the University of Michigan.
This semester at UMASS, I'm taking bio, chem, english, and calc 1 with a gpa of a 3.89.

My SAT scores are 710 Math 550 Critical Reading 620 Writing.

The only problem is, I have a C+ in my 1 credit bio lab, but an A in every other of my classes.

Will this C+ hinder my chances of a Fall 2011 transfer to LSA in any way? I know a few people who have transferred with similar stats of mine telling me that the C+ ruins the "landscape" of all the other As i have.

I guess I'd like some more input, so if anyone could estimate my chances, with this C+ in my gpa I'd appreciate it.

I honestly can’t tell you much about what the grade will do for your chances, but I applied to transfer after one year at my current college and was denied. UM “prefers” junior level transfers, and while they do take sophomores and freshman, they will go heavily off of your high school grades until you have more credits. They also are more likely to give a spot to someone with similar grades to someone who has a higher class standing.
If you do not get accepted for fall, I would recommended applying for winter.
Best of luck!

Right now it says LSA undeclared, but in my essays I said i wanted to pursue a neuroscience major.
