I have a quick question on the undergraduate program for University of Michigan. When do you apply to join the undergraduate business program? As a senior in high school or at the end of freshen year at Michigan? I want to go into IB, so any comments (good or bad) about the program would be helpful! Thanks
- apply either senior year or end of freshman year.
- IB is too early to say. Too many variables at this point.
What is something specific you want to know?
Is it worth paying out of state tuition?
You can apply as a senior in high school (preadmit), but very few are admitted that way. Most Ross students apply at the end of Freshman year at Michigan. The main negative about Ross is that it is not easy to get into, so there is an element of risk. However, a student who is “IB material” should have little trouble getting into Ross once at Michigan. Most IBs will only hire students with 3.7+ GPAs. Michigan students with 3.7+ GPAs should have no trouble getting into Ross.
Virtually all BB IBanks recruit at Ross. There will naturally be competition for those jobs, but the number of offers is substantial, so the odds are not unreasonably low.
Below are some basic numbers that you may find interesting. Note that I am only including placements into BB IBanks that recruited 10 or more Ross MBA and BBA interns and graduates in that given year. Many BBAs were placed in BB IBs that recruiter fewer than 10 (most years, that would include Credit Suisse, UBS, BOA, Lazard etc…) and those are not included in the numbers below. Combined, those unlisted BB firms recruit 10+ additional BBA graduates annually.
