Does anyone here know when the Michigan United States Senate Youth Program notifies people when they're going to be semifinalists and/or selected? I'm trying to work around a scheduling conflict (if I get in), so knowing when I can know whether I'm in or not would be really helpful. Thanks!

I am waiting on word of selection in North Carolina. Interviewed November 8. Was told that their picks have to be certified by Heart Foundation and we should know beginning of December. I figured that certification involves some type of background check to make sure we aren’t crazy or have a criminal history. Good luck to you!

You too mate, our apps weren’t even due until the fourth… I guess we’re slow

November 4th? NC was due October 6. Wow, that is late. Do you have state finalists that have to go in for interviews or do they pick 2 people straight from the applications?

I actually have no clue. If I had to guess based on what I’ve heard, I’d say we might not even had an interview process.
Or maybe that’s just me being optimistic :P

Did you have to take an exam? I had to do that when I went in for my state level interview.

Yeah, we took a multiple choice exam and wrote two essays (one personal essay and a political essay).

Have they announced it yet?

Haven’t heard anything about the NC selection. I was told that the Hearst foundation releases names on December 1. Only a few more days!

Heard back yet? I’m checking my email every day
