<p>Smart decision OP. You’ll have plenty of time to explore life outside Pittsburgh after you graduate. I know a dental student at UCLA who, being a fourth year dental student, said he had 220k in debt from just dental school. Sure he’ll pay it all off eventually, but the more quickly you pay it off, the faster you’ll be able to enjoy the rest of your life. And if you ultimately don’t become a dentist, you’ll have nice chunk of money to explore a number of other options.</p>
<p>With that much of a difference in cost, you’ll have a lot of $$ to spend exploring life outside of Pittsburgh and still be ahead financially. Pitt is a great school for pre-med/pre-dent, etc. We wouldn’t have to ponder the question at all at our house.</p>
<p>Out of curiosity, if you wanted out of Pitt, why weren’t other places considered too?</p>

<p>Thanks again everyone! @Creekland other places were considered, my top choice was UNC OOS since the cost wasn’t too expensive OOS but i was rejected. I still applied to a bunch of other places/guaranteed programs but I knew ultimately the decision would come down between these two schools</p>

<p>Okay so here’s something interesting that I didn’t see happening. I interviewed and was accepted to SUNY Buffalo’s 7 year dental program OOS! Buffalo gave me $12,000 in merit scholarship also making it very affordable. I really liked the dental school but the undergrad campus was kind of a turn off. So now my options are SUNY Buffalo 7 year vs Pitt 8 year. any opinions/thoughts it terms of both undergrad and dental school?</p>
<p>OMG…this is a NO BRAINER!..dental school is NOT $50,000/year; it is more!!!..Buffalo has a terrific dental school and is a great undergrad…</p>
<p>I’d still stick with Pitt. If you didn’t really like the Buffalo undergrad campus now, you will hate it in a few years. Been there…done that. Pitt’s Dental School is very highly respected. Isn’t Pitt still cheaper for you than Buffalo, even with their scholarship?</p>
