Michigan vs. UNC

I am thinking of where I would fit better, Michigan or UNC. I plan on studying business and prestige is important. I like a good college town and I want my academics to be good, but not so cutthroat that it ruins my experience. I want to have sports so that I can go to games and I plan on being involved in Greek life. I’m OOS from all three, so cost being aside, which school should I pick and why?

WOW- OOS for both Umich and UNC? you must be a very impressive student! the good news is that both of these schools are highly prestigious, so you can’t go wrong with either one. That being said, I believe that Kenan-flager is a bit more prestigious and higher ranked. Ann Arbor and Chapel Hill are both excellent college towns, honestly the biggest difference is the climate (if that makes a big difference for you). Also both have incredible sports, although I would probably give that to UNC too. Both schools also offer greek life and neither has an extreme cut throat attitude. All in all, both are great fit for you, and if you choose Umich, I’m sure you will absolutely love your time there. However, based on these things I would have to hand it to UNC (although I cannot stress enough that both are awesome choices and you will be successful at either :D)

Haha I am yet to apply I’m just getting a jump on where I might be interested. Thanks for the feedback!

No need to choose now then. Apply to both. See where you get in, see if you get preadmits to both b-schools, see if there is a price difference, visit if possible and then decide.

Apply to both and see where you get in. Once you are accepted you can compare the two schools.

If you are interested with finance and/or consulting, I would go with Ross (obviously take into consideration cost and fit).

“That being said, I believe that Kenan-flager is a bit more prestigious and higher ranked.”

The opposite is true. Michigan, as a whole, is also the higher rated school of the two.

“Also both have incredible sports, although I would probably give that to UNC too.”

UNC in football? The NCAA will be bringing the hammer down on the school in the near future. Academic fraud…

And when the time comes, be sure you have a good list with a mix of reach, match, and safety schools.
And in your end decision cost will be a factor so don’t ignore affordability when you apply.
