Michigan vs USC vs Berkeley vs WUSTL

Hi! I've been admitted to those 4, along with UNC, which I am currently deciding. I am looking for a business path, and I was wondering if you guys could compare those for me?

I am currently in USC Marshall, WUSTL Olin, and I will be applying to Michigan Ross and Berkeley Haas. Money is not an issue, but I got half tuition to UNC and USC. I'm leaning towards Berkeley, because of their reputation and great location, but I've heard lots of great things about Ross. However, my parents warned me about Michigan's economy, although California's isn't that much better. Can you guys compare these 4 schools for me? Thanks a lot!

I do not know much about the business schools you listed other than Ross, so I won’t attempt to compare them. However, I would like to say that the Michigan economy should not push you away from attending ross. Ross graduates are definitely not limited to jobs in Michigan and, thus, are not greatly affected. One of Ross’ strong points is their ability to open doors all over the country for their students.

Haas=Ross > olin and marshall.

Take the much nicer weather at Berkeley and run with it

noooo but what the long flights to new york and back from californiaa

^^^Which I guarantee you bearcats would ***** about everyday if he attended Cal!

haas and ross both open up a lot of doors, but more haas students tend to stay on the west coast rather than the east coast so that’s something to consider. plus the people at umich are way more attractive than those at berkeley (just from my experience, i could be wrong)

^ Hey, what are you talking about? You’re just a senior, what do you know about “Michigan goggles?”

Haas and Ross are slightly better than Marshall and Olin. Although I agree the weather in Cal is better than the weather in Michigan, I think the atmosphere at Michigan is more pleasant than the atmoshpere in Cal. Between those schools, I would recommend going for fit.

hahahaha that’s exactly what my dad talked to me about, “michigan goggles”. my exposure to the people at michigan has been limited since i’m from so cal, and as i’ve only been there about 6 or 7 times, all for football games except this past week to check out the school, my opinion may not be indicative of how attractive the people really are. but based on observations, umich > cal.

my sister goes to cal. i haven’t seen a single attractive person in any of the pictures she’s tagged in on facebook. she told me the only other attractive people she’s met are these girls from a jewish sorority or something like that, but they all play rugby so theyre more manly than most. and not to mention asians dominate cal (not to be racist, but they’re just not what i’m interested in).

Ahhh I see, cool hehehe

"noooo but what the long flights to new york and back from californiaa "
Actually, Berkeley gets recruited the most after stanford for SF IBD, so unless you are determined to go to new york (which some people are, especially those who want S&T), it’s more convenient when it comes to recruiting. Some of the very best teams are located in SF and LA, including GS TMT, former legendary UBS healthcare team which all went to Moelis on the west coast etc.

If a business school is measured by its “targetness”, Ross and Haas are much better than Marshall and Olin. I’ve never heard either of the latter mentioned as target schools. I know a top kid at Olin who had to network his ass off during recruiting (eventually got into MS S&T) – those kids are not recruited for on campus. Marshall… just have never heard of them mentioned in the same breath as targets or semi-targets.
