Hello,
I am making my first post with a difficult decision. I was admitted to the microbial biology major in CNR at UC berkely as well as the microbiology major at UCSB. I am hoping to possibly get my masters in epidemiology, working in either biotech or public, and was wondering what benefits one program might have over another from those that have experience or have heard. Its a tough decision and I would love some advice!
Thank you!
I don’t have much to offer in terms of experience, as I picked to attend UCLA next year. But if it were me in your situation, I’d pick Cal any day. A lot of people will say that prestige doesn’t matter, but IMHO, the chance to go to a school like Cal, w/ it’s global recognition, is something you shouldn’t give up unless you can find a school to match that. But that’s just my opinion. To others, location might be extremely important and they can’t stand an area like Berkeley. I’d recommend visiting both, esp. Berkeley cuz the area is definitely not for everyone, whereas most people would enjoy Isla Vista
