Hey,
I was wondering what teacher you guys would recommend for micro next year.
The possible choices according to our pre-registration info are: Schwartz, M ; Bishop, J ; Herman, D ; Levinson, A. According to many, this is a very difficult class where many struggle, and only two of the teachers are rated on ratemyprofessors.com, Levinson and Schwartz. Both receive a lot of bad reviews, especially Schwartz. Many say he's extremely difficult and boring, and few people achieve good grades. The final is supposed to be ridiculous. Levinson's reviews were a little bit better, but not much. Does anyone have any input on these teachers, especially Herman and Bishop? Thanks guys.

I just looked, apparently they've added a fifth teacher: Oweiss, Ibrahim M. Levinson's classes seem to already be full and using a waitlist.

I'm taking Levinson though I'm a sophomore. I heard he's the best for microeconomics. I also heard that schwartz is really bad. In fact during the first semester freshman year I never met a single student who got above a C+ in schwartz class. I sure some people did but rarely freshmen. My best advise is to prepare to get a C in microecon and get on with your life because it is really really hard.

How are you taking micro as a sophomore and i thought that the econ department had a curve so that 25% of students get an A, 50% - B, and 25 % C and lower. Anyways, anyone have any comments on the other three teachers?

I'm taking microecon as a sophomore because I am a science major with a minor in econ. Yeah the curve is 25% A and A-, 50% B+ to C+, 25% C and lower. Sophomores would be taking the same class with you and would understand how to study more effectively. Econ and math majors- people who are really good at econ and have intentions of doing it continuously for undergrad would also be in the same class with you. I have never heard of the other professors before though. Why I am saying it's difficult was because most people I know tried really hard and still could not get a C. I don't know why but the majority of students on my floor had Cs.

How are some of the other required (for SFS) econ classes at Georgetown? I'm going to be a freshman there in August and I am pre-registering for International Finance (pass out of Mico/Macro... sounds like I am fortunate based on how hard those classes are). Can anyone recommend a prof for this class (they are Takeno/Gaske for the fall semester)?

sefago - o i was thinking you were in sfs, i was a little confused since it's a requirement for sfs freshmen. anyways, does anyone have any advice on any of the teachers?

Also, does anyone have any advice on the Hist 001 teachers, Roshwald, Goldfrank, Wackefuss, and Zimmers. It appears as though I should try to avoid Roshwald, according to most reviews on ratemyprofessor. Zimmers seems well-liked but his classes are all full and have lengthy waitlists already. Does anyone know much about the other two, or how difficult it would be to get off the waitlist for one of Zimmers' classes if i signed up for them anyways.
