MicroFridge

2 easy questions:

do the micro-fridges have a small freezer section as well? for ice or ice cream?

do you have to reserve these, or refrigerators, or freezers, in advance? Or are they still availailable during September, once you're unpacked and settled and have your bearings and a better handle on what's what?

thanks

the microfridges have a small freezer, but I'm not sure if they stay cold enough to keep ice cream in long term. They are around in September so that you can definitely wait to see where you are living before deciding if you want one.

LOL - I'm not sure that "long term" is necessary when it comes to my daughter and ice cream!

My D had one but found she didn't use it.

Don't forget that Princeton is a walkable campus. There's WaWa down by Forbes and Frist in the center and Bent Spoon on Nassau Street. So going out for ice cream with friends is a big deal, also ice cream socials with RAs for freshmen/sophomores...

depending on the dorm the microwave part is more useful than the freezer. My freshman dorm did not have a microwave or a hot water tap in it. A fridge is definitely useful though

Microfridges do indeed have a freezer, and it is big enough for ice cream. As for reservations, I know a number of freshman friends who rented one once they got on campus, and the agency hadn't run out by then, but an email they sent out a couple of weeks ago indicated that fridges have run out early in past years.

Speaking of microfridges, would anyone be interesting in buying my mini-fridge from me? Its about waist high (the largest size that the university allows), has a decently sized freezer and has a stainless steel exterior. I paid about $150 for it but am looking to sell for about $60. I have my housing through the summer so if you want, you can just pick it up from my room in the fall. I'd be more than happy to send you a photo if you're interested and even have all the original manuals and stuff.
