microsoft office?

Im gonna be a freshman at UCSB next year and i just got a new macbook pro, so i need to buy microsoft office. i'm wondering if it matters what year i get, like what year powerpoint will work on the computers when i have to present and stuff? thanks!

Even the most recent PowerPoint version will work on older computers–you will just have a few features cut out (transitions and slide layouts, for example). The basic slides and bullet points will still show. Buy whichever version you are most comfortable with using. I am pretty sure that most retail stores are only carrying 2010 right now. I personally prefer 2003 or 2007, but I think I am alone on that.
Good luck!

You’re not alone; 2003 was the best. If you want maximum compatibility it’s a good idea to get 2010.

Or Open Office. I don’t really like its version of PowerPoint though…

Yeah I was gonna suggest OpenOffice or LibreOffice for the OP, but seeing as they had already purchased a Mac, I doubt that’s going to happen.
