<p>i got a new computer for christmas that came with a trial office 2007. so i used that. it expired today. </p>
<p>i downloaded office 2003 because i dont want to pay for the full 2007 version</p>
<p>all my files are saved as .docx</p>
<p>how can i convert them to .doc</p>
<p>i right click the file...change how it opens by choosing office 2003...and then when i try to open the file...it gives it to me in symbols</p>
<p>so....im not sure where to go from here</p>

<p>I am more than 50% sure that you won’t be able to convert directly from .docx to .doc using simple commands. What you can do is remote to SEAS (or use a computer with Word 2007) and then save as a 97-2003 document. Then, email that to yourself and you should be able to open the new .doc file.</p>

<p>you had office 07 trial, which expired. you did not want to pay for office 07, so you download (i assume you mean pirate) office 03.</p>
<p>so why didnt you just download office 07??

<p>btw, microsoft has a compatibility pack for office 03 to let you view, edit and save office 07 files.

<p>can’t you just download another trial version of Office 2007 and save all your .docx files as .doc? Use CLICC laptops or computers to convert your files, if you don’t have access to SEAS or just ask someone who has Office '07.</p>
