Bring both. I recommend a Whirlpool for fridges and a Sharp for microwaves. The Sharp microwave is readily available at almost any store for about $50-$60. You'll have to look a bit for the Whirlpool fridge (it's $99 and I found one at Lowe's last year) but trust me, there is no better choice out there. Why else does Whirlpool stand out as a name for regular fridges when you never hear of Avanti and Haier making them for your kitchen?

As for the TV, if you have four people, you might as well bring two. That way if someone wants to watch sports and someone else wants to watch news, you can accomodate everyone. With four people deciding on what to watch is pretty tough--I'm just one person and I always have trouble deciding what to watch! (I have a friend who has two TV sets, they're in two rooms, and he will pace back and forth between them to watch two shows when he can't make his mind up)

I found a fridge at Sam's for about 90 bucks, by GE.
Yes, I would bring both - one tv might be enough...try to find out how much the people you're rooming with actually watch tv first!

Or just bring a TV tuner and attach it to your laptop...that's an idea.

Sounds like a nice snag, kk06. I had a GE that lasted from 1976-1995 with no problems. Sold it and the guy kept it for another seven years. 26 years for a fridge is pretty good. Would have kept it myself but wanted an icemaker!

Oh, and when you get your mini-fridge, make sure you get an ice cube tray if you're into ice cubes.

definately bring both.
