i thought i remember a thread saying microwaves aren't allowed? is that true?... is a minifridge a necessity?

no mic would be killer... i need it for my lean cuisines!! :(

I don't know about other dorms, but in Keough each section has a microwave in its section lounge that everyone shares. Also, there is a kitchen downstairs that I believe has a microwave as well.

Microwaves are not allowed in rooms, this is true. You will understand once you get to college and you see how good people are at setting popcorn on fire. There are several microwaves in every dorm though so it won't be a problem!

Microwaves are not allowed in rooms. That said, see what the vibe of your dorm is when you get there, I bet you'd be able to sneak one in without much problem.

Minifridge is a necessity. Definitely.

i'd be fine with one on my dorm floor... having to go downstairs, though, would be a pain...

microwaves are not allowed. there are usually multiple microwaves located thoroughout the dorms. my dorm has at least 5.

minifridges up to 5 cubic feet are allowed. they are definitely a necessity.

Does each person bring there own TV and frig or do you share in the room?

i wouldnt bring two tv's because, simply said, the room's are not that big.

Best to communicate ahead of time who brings what. Red is right--there is barely enough room for clothing (especially for girls), much less duplicates of big things like frig's and TV's. Best bet is for each roommate to own the big stuff outright. That way, if the assigned roommates opt not to live together sophomore year--which is typically the case--there's no need to figure out who keeps the frig, TV or futon and who gets bought out for what price.

As dorms go, Notre Dame's are among the most architecturally beautiful. As dorm rooms go, ND has to have some of the smallest ones around--particularly for freshman, particularly in the older dorms. The upside is there are some pretty nice, spacious rooms in those older dorms for those with good upperclassman room picks.

Nonetheless, space is as a premium. As I see it, either lofting modular furniture or building a loft is an absolute necessity, unless you're in a three-room quad...
