Okay, so I transferred from a small private school to a 5A public Texas high-school in the middle of my sophomore year. When I transferred, the counselor said that only my credits would count, and not my actual grades. My grades were nothing over-the-top, so I didn't really mind.

Now, I just got a copy of my transcript, and my grades count! The worst part is, I get no weight for them!

My old school didn't have pre-AP/AP, but rather "honors", which they considered the equivalent to an AP or pre-AP course. So, if my grades from my old school count, shouldn't the weight count as well? It seems unfair to me that kids who went to my current school get a 10 or 5 point GPA boost in these classes, when the classes I took were at the same difficultly level. Should I talk to someone about this, or does it seem like a lost cause?

Go ask your GC again. If necessary ask your parents to also become involved. IMO they shouldn’t use the grades without weighting.

If you use the Common App, there is a place where you can check a box if your education was interrupted in any way. One of the boxes is if you changed schools. Once you check the box, a place opens up for you to explain your situation. I believe you are given unlimited space to do so. Use that.

maybe your new school doesnt do weighted?

Okay, I will go in with my mom today to see if they will even listen.

Really: Interesting, thank you for that information.

And yes, they do weigh grades, I know that for a fact. The funny thing is that a pre-ap English course I took at my current school isn’t weighed either, yet all my other ones are. I think they just screwed up all together.
