Mid-Term Election Results

Wesleyan alum won election in three closely fought races. They were:
John Hickenlooper
74 - Governor (Colorado)
Peter Shumlin
79 - Governor (Vermont)
and, Michael Bennet `87 - Senator (Colorado)

All were Democrats.

Yay!!!

I’m not a Democrat, I’m a registered Independent (voted for John Anderson in '80). Democrats are too squishy, too much the milquetoasts on too many issues, more prone to roll over than fight, but Republicans are just plain evil. So this is good news.

Yea, Hickenlooper’s ads, in particular, got a lot of national exposure; droll, effective and squeaky clean: [YouTube - Shower](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

Michael Bennet is another interesting story. He and Chris Coons in Delaware were the two Senate success stories for the Democrats. Both are what I would call, “deficit hawks” and it will be interesting to see which one leads the party closer to the center (which may not be your cup of tea.)

There’s a big article about Gov. Hickenlooper in this Sunday’s NYT Magazine:
