I'm confused at what exactly that is. Is that for the fall semester's grades or a report about how my grades are doing in the middle of spring semester? And what if my school doesn't necessarily keep track of my grades mid-semester?

You should have already submitted official transcripts with fall grades. The Midterm report is for sp sem. No schools track grades, the Midterm report is an unofficial grade report that you take around to your instructors.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks!

so if we haven’t had any midterm exams yet, the midterm report will be more like a general impression from the professor so far in the cours?

It’s best to have some type of grade-in progress, but that can be difficult for students on the sem system. You might want to call your schools, explain your situation and ask how late you can submit the report. Remember, like the mid-year in HS, it isn’t due by the deadline when other parts of your application are due.

I also have a question regarding the mid-term report. 2 schools I’m applying to have an application deadline of March 1 and the others have a deadline of March 15. My current school runs on the quarter system. So do you think I could just hold off on the mid-year report and just send my updated transcript as soon as winter quarter grades are available? Grades should be posted either the third or fourth week of March.

I would think that would be fine, as mid-sem reports aren’t due by deadlines anyway. If you have any doubts, just email/call the colleges and ask.
