One of my colleges, Northeastern, requires a mid-term grade report to be sent in order to omit ones SAT and high school transcript. However, I learned about this after the fact that I had my high school guidance councilor send in my transcript and evaluation. Northeastern said that they would not count the SAT/ hs transcript if I exceed 24 credits. Currently I have 14 completed credits but at the end of this semester I'll have 29. Obviously I need to get the mid-term grade report in but when? I just started my semester this past week and I don't have any grades yet. I have already submitted my information and my recommendations/ Dean's form are on the way. I put down on my application that I'm applying for the fall 2008 semester. Would they see the fall 2008 and assume that a mid-term grade report is on the way?

Well, I assume you want them to forgo your SAT scores and H.S. transcript for a good reason, so I'd say just wait until mid-semester. Give them a call, first, to verify (soon-ish), but I'd wait until around the end of February, when your professors have a good handle on your grades.

I was told by admissions that once everything is in, the decision usually takes 6-8 weeks. Some things have not yet arrived but are either in the works or in the mail. So let's say 7-9 weeks from now I'll have a decision. I should have some grades by that time. I'd rather not submit the high school stuff because I did not do well back then. If I have the option of forgoing my SAT/ h.s. transcript than I will pounce on that.

I think the best way to go would be to ask them, straight-up: "If I'd wanted to override the transcript I sent you with a mid-term report, when should I have the form in?"

By the way, I have been very impressed with how quickly they process documents, and update their website.

yeah, northeastern is quite prompt. They do not start reviewing until February 1st.

bump... any more opinions?

Bump----I am also trying to find out when to submit the mid-term report. Also, how much weight do they put on the mid-term grades? If they're submitted later in the semester will they have more impact? I'm just a little worried because my first semester GPA was 3.28 and I know I can get higher this semester. Not trying to steal your thread Bostonbene :P

Don't fret fabregas. Is there a universal form for the mid-term grade report? If there is, that could explain why I can't find it on the college's web site.

Nope, there is none. Common Application doesn't have one.

If your prospective universities are interested in your mid-term grades, they will send you the form themself.

m.kenien, are you 100% sure that my schools admisiter the mid-term grade report form themselves? If so, thanks for the helpful insight!
Northeastern, my top choice, asks for the mid-term report. The dilemma is I sent them my high school information, which they do not request unless you have less than 24 credits. I wrote on my application that I'm applying for fall 2008, do you think they will send me one because they know I'm in the process of taking more credits?

Sending in high school information won't kill u.

Here is the mid-term report form for Northeastern:

I hope this helps?

thanks for the form.

I did this to make you realize that you cannot rely on external sources for such important information - specially the deadlines.

I've emailed them numerous times. However, Northeastern Admissions is not opened at almost 11pm.

Try caling them on Monday... I hope you remember the procedure.
