Mid year GPA dip ruin chances?

CMU is one of my top schools would be a dream come true if I got in. But due to some reasons and problems at school that I wont mention, my midyear grades took a dip( 3 B's) and my overall GPA actually went DOWN by .03(from a 3.67 to a 3.63). Did I just totally blow my chances? I finished strong with my first 4.0 one sem) the end of my junior year, and thought another one would dramatically increase my chances, but I seriously doubt that now...

I don’t think you RUINED your chances at all. But to be blunt you didn’t help them as much as maintaining your GPA or raising it would have. But that happens to a lot of people, I’m sure they don’t count people out just by looking at what your first semester grades look like, it’s most likely just something they will ding you for. Don’t worry, it is what it is

0.03? That’s…nothing? I think a big drop would’ve been a whole point, at least. CMU will probably assume it’s a minor case of senioritis.

IMO Almost everyone had a tough time balancing between application and school; CMU won’t mind as long as it’s not major
